Stoodupville

I think I've discovered the reason (or at least part of the reason) why smug marrieds are so smug, and desperate singles enter into green card marriages of convenience ... because they don't have to deal with this type of dude any more.

What's wrong with this dude? you may ask. Seems like a reasonably normal and nice person.

Well, I thought so too, until I got stood up by him on a lunch date yesterday. Yep. The first time I've gotten stood up on a date in over 10 years.

I'm not angry about this or anything, because it's his problem and I care too much about myself and my self-esteem than to get angry or emotional about it and let it get me down or take it personally or whatever, but I just have to ask ... why do grown adults stand up other grown adults? It makes you think, this is part of the reason why people think modern dating sucks so much. It really spoils it for the other guys out there who are genuinely kind and good people where it wouldn't even enter their minds to stand anybody up. Not even if her photo said she was a 120 lb gorgeous redhead but when you met her your eyes told you she was a 375 lb bleached blonde with 4 teeth missing, thong hanging out the top of her skirt, and fake nails longer than your sufficiently long schlong.

I thought about sending him a nastygram, but if you're the type of person who stands other people up, you're not a moral person and you aren't going to give a damn whether I (and 99.9% of other decent men and women out there) think it's wrong that you're doing it. Either you know it's wrong and you don't do it, or you know it's wrong and you do it because you don't care. You're just going to laugh and think the psychotic bitch sending the nastygram needs to get over it and get a life, and you're just going to keep doing what you've been doing until karma finally comes back around to bite you, hard, on your arse. So ... what's the point? At the same time, however, I don't like to take things like this in silence because that sends a signal that I accept and validate what is some very unacceptable and invalid behaviour. And, I want to warn other women against this dude, and just a small, evil [pinky to corner of my mouth] part of me is hoping I'll stir the puddin' and he'll see it and get all riled up. So I posted a warning on Craigslist, though I doubt many women who have been interacting with him will run across it, and probably I'll get a few emails from some dumbarse bozos who just don't get it and ask me if I'm ugly or was bitchy with him in emails before the lunch date was arranged, because that could be the reason why he stood me up.
