Bush-Kerry Bake-Off and the Latest on the Wee Wee War ...

As we witness the acrimonious partisan rhetoric, tacky spin and dirty tricks of this Presidential contest, let us stop, take a breath, and consider cookie-baking: a contest in which everybody comes away getting what they want, everybody wins (including our tummies and tastebuds), and nobody assembles a platoon of lawyers to take the results to the Supreme Court ...

Laura Bush's Oatmeal-Chocolate Chunk Cookies vs. Teresa Heinz Kerry's Pumpkin Spice Cookies

----o0o----
NOTE: I did do a bake-off for the two cookie recipes on Election Night and served them to my buds, who were asked to cast their vote for the recipe they liked best. Laura Bush's cookies beat Teresa Heinz Kerry's cookies hands down, even among my libbie friends who goodnaturedly conceded "defeat." Sorry, Teresa! (Then again, you can't expect scrumpdillyishus recipes from anyone who has probably never had to cook for themselves a day in their lives ... )

Things with W2 have improved slightly but are still a bit dicey. I have moved his litterbox and food/water bowls to the empty guest bedroom on the upper level of my condo so now the guest BR is "his" room, and he can stay there and meet all his needs right there without having to pass by The Boyfriend to do it. This instinctive move seems to have paid off, at least on the outset, and he seems to be quite happy with this arrangement. He has hissed at me maybe 3 times in the past week or so, which is quite a positive difference from constantly. [sigh] He is also flea-free thanks to some Frontline flea drops and isn't scratching any more, so that is also helping to improve his mood. Now the fleas are biting the crap out of me, but that's OK, I'd rather have them bite me (and kill them with wanton glee) than have them infest W2, where they are extremely hard for either him or me to get to.
